Executive Orders Greetings, my brothers and sisters! My administration as OES President started by saying, "As we search for Unity we must have Love Within!" As we deviate we have observed that the value of our theory has increased. The evidence is the persistent bond that took place amongst the African-ameri- can students regardless of which organization they were affiliated with. When it was time to address Chancellor Bardo with our concerns, we came together. When it was time to create a source where our feelings could be expressed and read, we came together. MLK Jr. Day, Black History Month, and Black Awareness Week we continued to come together. By African-Americans coming together each and everyone of us can be proud of being apart of the 1st Annual Stompfest, the arrival of Ebony Chronicles, BET, and the KutKlose and OutKast concert. We must continue to search for Unity. We must continue to have Love Within. I would like to thank everyone for their support. I would especially like to thank Chancellor Bardo, Dr. Stillion, Ernest Jeffries, the Political Science Department, and Mrs. Anita Lytle for their support. Once again, I would like Thanks, Man... We would like to thank the students, faculty, and staff for their praise and criticism of our publication. Your comments have been most helpful in making EC strive for the best. We have enjoyed a successful first year and we owe our thanks to you! We would like to send some special shout outs to: God, without a doubt He is the one who helped us make this happen! Ernest Jerfries sorry for all the heart attack prices! We tried not to use so many colors! We'll miss you and your family! Best Wishes! Dr. Stillion thanks for your support and encouragement of our efforts. They mean so much! Tyreace Dixon thanks for meeting those deadlines! You could always take up that space we couldn't fill! Tom Frazier what could we have done without you! Sorry for the five hundred phone calls a minute! Thanks to our bodies for holding up at 2:15am trying to write all of these thank yous so if there is anyone that we left out we hope you understand! Thank you for reading Ebony Chronicles, God Bless and Good Night! Peace, Heather D. Sheppard Trey Miles Congratulations Ernest on your new position as Assistant Dean of Students at Davidson College We Will Miss You!!!

This 12-page issue of Ebony Chronicles came out in the spring of 1996 and was published by the Organization of Ebony Students. The news magazine voiced the issues and concerns of WCU’s African American community and celebrated their accomplishments and achievements. Named in 1973, the Organization of Ebony Students was originally the Black Students United for Liberation which was founded in 1968 to promote unity among African American students. The organization is now called the Black Student Union and continues to promote the interests of WCU’s African American student body through cultural and educational activities and is open to all cultures.
