EODC Honorable Roy A. faylor House of Representatives Washington, B.C. Dear Mr, Taylor; Please accept our apologies for this late reply to your letter concerning the Horace Kepart books and. journals at Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The portion of the Kepart papers held at the park has never 'b&en added to the park collection. However, about a dozen books have been cataloged, into the library. All of the material held at the park is considered to be of value to it. We also recognize the value of having such a collection brought together in its entirety at an educational institution such as Western Carolina University. Therefore, we agree with your recojanendation but request that the park staff aetabers have access to the collection for research purposes. Superintendent ?incent Ulis will negotiate a mutually agreeable arrangeeent with the university. 'fhank you for your interest ia the Great Staoky Mountains National Park and -your continuing interest in the national Park Service. Sincerely yours, (Sgd) Lawrence C.
