Park Gatlinburg, Tennessee Dear Mr. Stupka: Follov?ing a conversation which I had with you and Superintendent Ross several weeks ago, I made inquiries concerning the situation as to the Horace Kephart collection. First I heard from Mr. Geo. M. McCoy and more recently from Dean W. E. Bird of WCTC, Cullowhee. They advise me that investigation is being made as to making the collection available at this time to the museum. Enclosed is a memorandum report which I made under date of December 18 to the members of this Commission and to the Executive Committee of WNCAC. I trust that the statements made with respect to the plans and program of the Park Service are in every sense correct. If not, kindly advise. Copy of this same memorandum has been furnished to the State News Bureau and they advise that they would like to prepare a story In this general connection. It would be helpful to all of us if the National Park Service could furnish us a general statement, as to the plans and program with respect to the museum as weife proposed at the Oconaluftee Ranger Station. Since your visit to our office, I have been hoping to receive such a statement. In the meantime, I hope that progress is being made In this connection. You will be interested to know that plans are going forward rather definitely for the development at Cherokee of a Cherokee Indian Pageant. As a preliminary to this, there is
