Hugh McEairy Acting Chancellor Western Carolina University Cullowhee, MC 28733 Dear Dr. McEniryj We are returning to Western Carolina University the Horace Kephart and George Masa collections which were loaned to us in 1948. Because of the special nature of nine books of the Kephart collection, they were incorporated into the park library and we request that we retain these on indefinite loan. A list of these books is enclosed. Several 3-D objects and trade journals are at our Museum Branch in Harpers Ferry. We understand Western Carolina would like to have these returned and we will comply with this request. With your permission* the trade journals will be retained by our Museum Branch, a list of such will be sent for your file. Mr. Richard W. Iobst picked up the items of the Kephart-Masa collections at Sugarlands Visitor Center in Great Smoky Mountains National Park on October 11, £973. When we have delivered to you the 3-D items we would like a letter for our files confirming return of these collections.
