  • New York Evening Sun: The Government maintains the Yellowstone National Park in the Far West. Why should not one be established in the Appalachian I region for the benefit of the South and East ? : An appropriation from Congress not exceeding the cost of one battle-ship would buy all the land that is needed. Comparatively few persons in the East can make the long journey to the Yellowstone national park, whereas a trip to Western North Carolina would not involve half as much time or expense. Baltimore, Md., Sun: The Appalachian National Park Association deserves success in the movement which it has inaugurated. Savannah, Ga., Press: The advantages of such a park and reserve are unequaled. The climate is fine all the year, the scenery is magnificent, and forestry experts pronounce the timber the finest and most varied in the country. The forest reserve idea is a fine one since our magnificent forests are rapidly being destroyed and the unfortunate experience of older conntries threatens us in this respect. Memphis, Tenn., Herald: The site selected embraces scenery that cannot be surpassed. Brooklyn, N. While the booklet is titled “fourth edition,” the first three editions have a different title and content. The first, second, and third editions are titled, “Reasons in Favor of the Establishment of a National Park in the Mountains of Western North Carolina.”
