Pigeon Valley Febry 20th 1880 Dear brother I have the sad intelligence to communicate to you of the death of Father. he died very sudenly yesturday morning he was well as usual, went out to chop some wood and in a few minutes was found liing dead near where he had been choping. We want you to come at once we will bury abut 2 olock tomorrow at our burying ground at Bethel try and get to my house as soon as you can Your brother W. S. Terrell

In this letter of February 20, 1880, William Terrell (1836-1913) informs his brother James W. Terrell of their father’s death. He explains their father died while chopping wood and they will bury him at Bethel Cemetery the next day.
