Mitchell won the event with a time of 47.96 seconds, and Johnson came in second finishing in 48.13 seconds. Mitchells win is the third of the season, earning him three of the top four times in the event on the season. Mitchell and Johnson also finished 2-3 in the 60- meter dash with 6.88 and 6.92, respec- tively. Savery of the relay team also won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:12.71. This win is a testament to Sav- erys athletic versatility, as she has won events this season in the 800 meter run, the mile run, and the distance medley. The mens 4x400 meter relay came in Junior Sprinter Manteo Mitchell won second place with a season best time of the 400-meter dash, came in second in 3:15.93. The Western Carolinian is Western Carolina University's student-run newspaper. The paper was published as the Cullowhee Yodel from 1924 to 1931 before changing its name to The Western Carolinian in 1933.
