, oN EEA Riptide intent > By Andy Gambill * WCnewsmagazine The movie We are Marshall is the latest sports movie that tries to raise emotions and tug at your heartstrings. A tear or two is what the movie is trying to get, and while it tries hard to get those tears it doesnt succeed in the end. The movie is another solidly-produced sports movie but if you are expecting something spectacular then you are going to be disappointed. The movie is based on a true story. In 1970 while traveling back from a football game at East Carolina University 75 members of Marshall's football team aching staff, and also boosters were killed accident is probably th aaa of all-time Cnewsmagazine During a recent interview on television, Ben Stiller talked about now that he is a dad, he wants to do more family-friendly movies and his first family movie, Night at the Museum was one that not only kids will enjoy, but even some parents and young adults will find humor in. The movie takes place in New York City as a divorced Father (Stiller) finds himself at a roadblock in his life and ends up taking a job as a night guard at the Natural History Museum. We Are Marshall is solid but not spectacular Jack Lengyel (Matthew McConaughey). While the real-life story is extremely sad, the movie just doesn't achieve the same emotions as the real event. Dont get me wrong, the movie is sad and will make you think and maybe even cry, but its not like other great sports movies where your eyes really fill up at the end. That's the problem with We Are Marshall. Its too much like every other sports movie and thus, struggles to carve its own niche. The movie really peas ame ales does than he bargained for as all the exhibits come alive at night. Two of the coolest exhibits that come to life (in this reviewers opinion) are the full scale Tyrannosaurus Rex and the cute but sneaky little monkey. Besides casting Ben Stiller, the movie's cast mixes some old school with a little new school. The three former night guards that Larry takes over for are famous actors Dick Van Dyke, Bill Cobbs and Mickey Rooney. There are many Stallion, Rocky Balt a iment of and jabs that ako this movie great. Actor/Writer/ Director Sylvester Stallone delivered a solid conclusion to the five previous films and gives the series an ending that leaves the audience loving Rocky even more than they did when the first film premiered in 1976. As a widower who consistently looks back on his past, Balboa owns a restaurant in South Philadelphia called Adrians. He talks to customers about previous fights and signs autographs and takes photos with them. His wifes brother Paulie shows Rocky a virtual fight between the Heavyweight Champion Mason The Line Dixon and Rocky Balboa. Carolinian * et in real life. Rocky agrees tp Mason Dixons proposal, and despite being mimicked and mocked by the media and fans, 60 year old Balboa trains and steps back into the ring for one final time. In the first film, Rocky runs to the top of the steps that lead to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. In the last film, Balboa does it once more, this time with his dog Punchy. The training sequences throughout the movie and the story behind Rockys final fight make this movie a wonderful experience for the entire audience. The final fight of Balboas career against Dixon is perhaps the best fight in all six of the films. Because you know that it will be Rockys final fight of his long career it becomes more and more emotional as each punch is thrown. The ih humo a solid job as assistant coach Red Dawson. Fox's character doesn't die in the plane crash because he goes on a recruiting visit. Fox does a superb job of showing the guilt that Dawson felt for not dying in the crash. Kate Mara is a surprise as well. The granddaughter of New York Giants owner Wellington Mara, she does a great job as Annie Cantrell, a cheerleader who was engaged to one of the players in the crash. We are Marshall has good actors and a good story line, but somewhere along the way the movie just d achieve its potential. We are Marshall | hi th Road. It's a of Teddy Roosevelt, Patrick Gailagh Tall) plays Attila the Hun, and even O en Wilson finds himself shrunk down to the size of a former cowboy from out west (name was unknown). Overall, this movie was not only a very funny movie, but also told us some facts about history and a very important moral comes from Robin Williams character, In order to avoid repeating the past, we must learn from it. Very good Quote! 4 stars out of 5 stars light heavyweight champion of the world, plays the role of Mason The Line Dixon, the Heavyweight Champion of the World. Tarver played the role with pizzazz and flair, and in the end you grow to love the man who the fans despise. The final installment ends with the audience loving the character of Rocky just as much, if not more, as they did thirty years ago. The entire franchise of films has lived on for ages, and will continue to live on for many more years. Rocky Balboa is a film that does not disappoint and is a solid ending to a great story. With all the disappointing sequels being made today, Rocky Balboa delivers a strong knockout at the box office. This is definitely one of the best films of 2006.
