  • cpiniities: He is now among the highest music advocates and educators in the nation. This list includes Bob McGrath, the famous host on Sesame Street and Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser, who is the author of The Joy of Successful Teaching and The Joy of Inspired Teaching. On March 10, 2005, Mr. Buckner and his wife, Donna, will attend the FAME Dinner, sponsored by the MENC, at the National Museum of Women in the Arts. While there, he will formally be recognized and receive an official certificate and medallion. Mr. Bob Buckner has served as a band director for over 30 years. He taught at Sylva Webster High school (now Smoky Mountain High) from 1966-1979. He then started his own show design business, United Music Enterprises, which he still runs today. Beginning in 1987, he taught at East Tennessee State University until he found his home at Western Carolina University in the fall of 1991. Since then, the band has grown from 88 members to 308 this past fall. With his ingenious designs and creative teaching, the Western Carolina Universitys Pride of the Mountains Marching Band is one of the most innovative marching bands in the southeast. *U MEDIA BOARD JOB OPPORTUNITIES WCnewsmagazine 11 Now ACCEPTING ~ APPLICATIONS Editor of Western Carolinian To be eligible for consideration, a candidate must: -be a WCU student at the time of appointment and while serving as Editor (Note: the Editor may carry less than a full-time load while serving in the position). -have a cumulative GPA of 2.25 or higher. -preference will be given to applicants with evidence of service on the staff, or be a Communication major with a minimum of 9 semester hours completed in the major, or present evidence of service on the staff of another newspaper. Editor of Nomad To be eligible for consideration, a candidate must: -be a full-time WCU student at the time of appointment and while serving as Editor (Note: the Editor may carry less than a full-time load while serving in the position). -have a cumulative GPA of 2.25 or higher. -preference will be given to applicants with evidence of service on the staff of an art and literary magazine or equivalent experience. Director of Catamount Communications To be eligible for consideration, a candidate must: -be a full-time WCU student at the time of appointment and while serving as Director (Note: the Director may carry less than a full-time load while serving in the position). -have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. -present evidence of service on the staff of Catamount Communications. -must be a member of PRSSA. General Manager of WWCU To be eligible for consideration, a candidate must: -be a full-time WCU student at the time of appointment and while serving as General Manager (Note: the General Manager may carry less than a full-time load while serving in the position). -have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. -present evidence of service on the staff of WWCU- FM or another radio station or be a Communication major with a minimum of 9 semester hours completed in the major. Manager of TV62 To be eligible for consideration, a candidate must: -be a WCU student at the time of appointment and while serving as Manager (Note: the Manager may carry less than a full-time load while serving in the position). -have a cumulative GPA of 2.25 or higher. -present evidence of service on the staff, or be a Communication major with a minimum of 9 semester hours completed in the major, or present evidence of service on the staff.
