The session, From A to ZZZ: Getting a Good Night s Sleep, will be held at the Pardee Health Educa- tion Center at the Health Education Center, Blue Ridge Mall, 1800 Four Seasons Blvd. in Hendersonville. Virginia H. Templeton of the Memory Assessment Clinic and Eldercare Resource in Asheville will address the normal structure of sleep and how it changes with age. Participants will learn ways to rem- edy sleep problems, including changes in sleeping habits, medica- tions and herbal remedies. The Great Life Series is designed to enhance the lives of adults as they age. The spring series features weekly programs every Tuesday through May 18. The cost of the session is $22. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the annual event, which is hosted by Western Carolina University's Base Camp Cullowhee. The daylong event will take place Saturday, April 17. Registration forms are available on-line at www.wcu.edu/ univcenter/outdoors and can be submitted via fax at (828) 227-7250 or dropped off in person on the first floor of Western's A. K. Hinds University Center. On-site registration will be at 11 A.M. the day of the cleanup on the lawn of the University Center. For more information, call (828) 227-3466. Cookout, Fun & Prizes 20th Annual Tuck Clean-up Challenge Set for April 17 Base Camp Cullowhee is looking for volunteers to help remove a years accumulation of trash from a section of the Tuckaseigee River in Jackson County Saturday, April 17. The 20th annual river cleanup will cover a portion of the river beginning at East Laport and ending at Barker's Creek. Volunteers will have the option of working from a raft or from the riverbank. No rafting experience is required for those working in the river, and transportation to and from the river will be provided. Participants should wear old clothing and bring gloves to protect their hands. Tam very excited to be part of such an important event. This year is the 20th anniversary of the river cleanup and we are hoping for a large turnout from the community. I hope everyone involved realizes what a big help they are and how much they are appreciated, said Jennifer Wright, student coordinator of the cleanup. After the cleanup, a free cookout will be held for volunteers at the WCU picnic area on Cullowhee Creek. Drawings will be held for a variety of prizes, including a mountain bike, donated by area merchants, and a $100 cash prize to the largest organized group. Each volunteer will receive a free T-shirt commemorating the event. Major sponsors include Duke Power, Last Minute Productions, The Large Boys, Nantahala Outdoor Center and Great Smoky Mountain Railroad. Other sponsors include Aramark; Dillsboro River Company; Endless River Adventures; Jackson County Rescue Squad: Jackson County Travel and Tourism Authority; Jackson Paper Manufacturing; Melrose, Seago and Lay, P.A.; Motion Makers: Simply Ts; The Sylva Herald; Tuckaseegee Outfitters; and Wildwater Rafting LTD.
