  • 14 STUDENT LIFE .9 "BE CREATIVE..." HOMECOMING BANNER CONTEST GUIDELINES: * First 50 clubs/organizations or individuals to register will receive a free banner 3 ft x 8 ft. Blank banners are now available and will be through October 7, 2003 University departments and agencies are encouraged to enter, though not eligible for prizes. Club/organization or individual must complete the registration form and return it to the UC to receive a banner. Banners are to be turned in at the UC Reservation Desk 2nd Floor Wednesday, October 7, by 5:00pm. Club/organization can keep their banner if they take it down after the game on Saturday, October 18. Banners may be used for banner contest and the Homecoming parade. Banners will be displayed around campus from October 13-18. On Saturday morning (October 18), banners will be moved to the football stadium. "GET INVOLVED..." Float Building Party!! On Thursday, October 16, a party will be held in the Ramsey Center to build your float and make a banner for the parade. The party will start at 8:00 pm until Midnight in the Ramsey Center. Student organizations must sign in between 8:00 pm - Midnight to receive points for the Catamount Cup. There will be free food while it lasts, a live DJ, and door prizes which will be awarded at midnight for the groups with the most participants registered by 11 :00pm. Plus a whole lot of fun at the event. Make a banner to carry in the Homecoming Parade: 1. Your organization must be registered in the parade 2. Supplies will be provided for anyone registered to make one (1) banner per group to carry or attach to a float. 3. Although not being judged officially, we ask that the banners: a. Show a creative display of name or insignia of sponsoring club or group b. Show originality (display of school spirit) c. Show a lot of color and have a catchy theme *NO profanity or obscenities!! Banners supplies will be handed out on a first-come first serve basis at the 6th Annual Float and Parade Banner Making Party on the main floor of the Ramsey Center on Thursday, October 16, 2003. REGISTRATION FORM HOMECOMING FLOAT BUILDING PARTY Name of Group or Organization How many people attending from your organization? CRITERIA FOR JUDGING: -creative display of name or insignia of sponsoring club/organization -originality (display of school spirit) -overall appearance (color, catchy theme) -no use of profanity or obscenities *Prizes awarded in the following categories: Greeks, Independents, and Residence Halls. *Prizes will be as follows for each category: First place $100.00 Second place $ 50.00 Third place $ 25.00 *Winners will be announced on Friday, October 17 during Spirit Night. *Organizations/lndividuals are encouraged to carry their banner during the October 17 Parade in Sylva. *Parade will begin at 6:15pm. Banners must be retumed to the UC/2nd Floor by midnight in order to be hung at the game.
