  • 16 WESTERN CAROLINIAN SPORTS February 23, 2000 Tftrwf «C wcW? Try fhc ww? «r Pw£/ It's a shame that I have to report this. I am a major wrestling fan and it pains me to see that WCW lost the ratings war on Valentines Day. To make matters worse, Raw didn't even come on until 11 pm. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Nitro lost the ratings war to the USA Dog Show. According to the Neilson Ratings System, Nitro pulled a 3.6 rating while the dog show scampered away with a 3.9. This is simply pitiful. If Nitro can't even beat a few pooches, then what makes the executives of WCW think they can even compete with WWF? Speaking of pathetic WCW shows, I am so glad I didn't pay for WCW SuperBrawl 2000. I'm sorry, but SuperBrawl SuperSucked. Let's put it this way, the WCW house show at the Ramsey Center last year was far better than this piece of monkey crap. It looks to me like WCW keeps using its old hands like Hogan, Nash, and Flair, while neglecting some of the real talent like Booker T (who lost in a horrible match), Vampiro (who lost to an unusually sloppy Kidman), and Norman Smiley (who also lost in a crappy match). I'm just wondering what WCW plans to do when the old hands are too old to wrestle anymore. Without proper build-up of their younger stars, WCW is digging its own grave - pardon the pun. Next weekend promises to be a light in this present darkness. WWF's "No Way Out" is coming Sunday night! Yes, I know I said WWF's PPV was coming on last weekend. I made a boo-boo and I apologize for any confusion, especially if you did what I did and saw SuperBrawl. You can imagine my disappointment and chagrin. What surprises lay in wait for all wrestling fans Sunday night when WWF unleashes Cactus Jack in a "Hell in the Cell Match" yet again! I'm looking for Foley to win this just because he can't quit yet. Foley needs to defend the title at Wrestlemania and at least fight The Undertaker one last time. The only problem I have with this prediction is another Rock/Foley match. WWF shows at least eight title matches between these two. WWF will probably have Rock win, only to lose it to Stone Cold when he fully recovers from his surgery. Rock vs. Austin; there's a match that I am anxiously waiting for. The other matches scheduled for "No Way Out" could go either way. As for the local boys of the PWF, after the cancellation of their Valentine's Day pay-per- view, 'Tough Love" as well as the first Monday show, action is scheduled to resume this Wednesday night. One of the founders of the organization, nicknamed "Guido" said it best when he stated, 'Wrestling federations don't die. They just take forever to reestablish themselves when dependent upon the weather." However, the president of the newly-renamed Pan-Universal Wrestling Federation, and the booker, Kudzu, vows that the action will return and that it will be bigger and better. So be sure to check out the action where wrestlers with the names of J-Ro, Sergeant Bill, Brett "the Hitman," Masked Death, Ghetto "D," and of course, the untrammeled PWF Pan-Universal Champion, Hook, fight it out. Servo Says: "Just listening to you up there makes The Rock want to put his finger down his throat and spew the People's Vomit all over your candy @$$es!" Ah, yes. Yet another Rock catch-phrase to put on another T-shirt.
