  • Western Carolinian April 11,1996 News Public Safety Highlights • 4/1 Parents reported a student missing from Leatherwood at 8 a.m. Investigators assisted in locating the student off campus. • 4/1 A student reported that a male operating a light purple Ford Festiva exposed himself to her while she was walking in the Walker A lot at 2:10 p.m. • 4/1 Officers were called to assist a person stuck in an elevator in Hunter Library at 4:15 p.m. • 4/2 A employee reported that a couch had been stolen from the Belk Building between March 29 and April 1. • 4/2 An student reported that she had received an obscene phone call between 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. • 4/2 Officers checked on a report of marijuana smoke in the hallway on the 7th floor of Scott and found that the call had resulted from an argument between two residents at 8:35 p.m. No marijuana smoke was detected. • 4/3 Officers investigated a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle parked in the Big Cat parking lot. No suspects are known at this time. The investigation is continuing. • 4/3 Officers identified and interviewed a suspect in a hit and run accident. A female student admitted to this offense. The case is being referred to Student Development. • 4/5 Officers assisted a DJ who was locked out of the radio station at 5:45 p.m. • 4/5 Officers issued a state citation to a student for driving the wrong way on a one-way street at 11:53 p.m. • 4/6 Officers found screens off several windows on the first floor of Moore at 11:35 p.m. • 4/7 A student in Leatherwood reported that he had received threatening phone calls from a former student at 8:55 p.m. • 4/8 Officers checked on a report of the odor of marijuana smoke on the 8th floor of Harrill at 1:30 a.m. • 4/9 Officers took a report from a student in Leatherwood who was receiving harassing phone calls. • 4/9 Officers took a report from a student in Leatherwood who said a non-student had used racial slurs. • 4/9 Officers assisted the SECT with a student who had a head injury in Helder. • 4/9 Officers observed a suspicious person pulling on car door handles in the Walker A lot. Contact was made with the subject. He was looking for a friend's car. • 4/9 Officers assisted the US Secret Service in the investigation of a threatening e-mail message sent from a computer lab in Forsyth to the White House on April 1.
