  • The International Club Western Carolingtfmversity The International Club was founded in 1974 by Mr. Dick Cameron. At that time the organization consisted of 25 international students and it was called the International Student Club. Since this name suggested that American students were not admitted, the name was changed to the International Club in 1989. The purpose of the International Club is to learn from each other's culture, especially since the world is becoming a global village. The meetings also provide an opportunity to meet new and exciting people, socialize and experience other cultures. Dick Cameron, International Club Founder and Advisor We have a meeting each month and I think the last meetings were very successful. The club held a sports-event that was concluded with a barbecue and in December we had a Christmas dinner in The Baptist Student Center. Everybody contributed some home specialties, so we ended up with delicious food from all over the world. During the dinner there were some lectures about December festivities in Egypt, France and The Netherlands. We also had lectures about Nepal and China in previous meetings. The program for the coming months will be as follows: February 2: Welcome for February 16: Lecture March: Spring Formal April: International Festival new students and lecture about international business, about breast cancer. I would like to stress tljiat everybody is welcome to join us in our meetings! You don't have to be an international student to join the International Club. We have about the same number of non-international students as international students. \ Iris van Ooyen, International Club President If you have any questions or would like to be added to the International Club mailing list, please; contact Iris van Ooyen (President) at 631-0142.
