Western Carolinian March 24, 1994 Sports jports Shorts o • "March Madness"from the beginning. This publication includes every statistic, every fact and every record from every game since the beginning in March of 1939. All the teams, the players and the coaches, with each of their individual records. The detailed box scores of every game, the all- stars, records as they're broken, form charts plus much, much more. (Plus, as an added bonus you will receive all regular season team, player and coach statistics for the 70's,80's,and90's.) To order, call the Western Carolinian Sports Editor at 227-7267. Intramural Fishing Derby begins March 28 at 8am and ends on April 25 at 3pm. All fish are measured at the Reid Gym front equipment cage by a faculty member or cage attendant Longest fish will be posted on the Men's Intramural bulletin board in Reid Gym. Intramural T- shirts will be awarded for the five following classes: 1-Brown Trout, 2-Rainbow Trout, 3-Bass (Small Mouth and Large Mouth), 4-Crappie, 5-Bream. Men's Horseshoes "singles" and "doubles" will occur behind Reid Gym at the WCU Horseshoe Pits on: - March 28 at 4pm for American, National, and Independent Leagues - March 29 at 4pm for Fraternity and Interactional Leagues. O -March 30at4pmforAll-CampusPlay-offs. For more information call the Intramural Office at 7477. • Men's and Women's Track Meet will occur April 5 on the WCU track. Field events will begin at 4pm and end at 6pm. Women's Track and Field events are as follows: Running Long Jump, Standing Broad Jump, High Jump (Field Events), Frisbee Distance, Frisbee Accuracy, Softball Relay, Softball Throw (Novelty Events), 50- yd. dash, 440yd. relay, 100 yd.dash, 440 yd. dash and mile run (Running events). Men's Track and Field events are as follows: Running Long Jump, Shot Put, High Jump (Field events), Frisbee Accuracy, Frisbee Distance (Novelty Events), 440 yd. relay, 100 yd. dash, mile run (2 participants per team) and 880 relay (running events). • 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons will be awarded. Intramural T-shirts will be awarded to the best overall first place contestant per event and any all-campus record tied or established. Group pictures will be taken of league winners at end of meet. Alternate date will be April 6. The Western Carolinian is Western Carolina University's student-run newspaper. The paper was published as the Cullowhee Yodel from 1924 to 1931 before changing its name to The Western Carolinian in 1933.
