Fletcher Foundation to provide scholarships to deserving music students. The grantwill enable Western's department of music to offer four $5,000 scholarships annually to talented undergraduate students planning to major in music. Western will launch the program in phases, awarding the first scholarship for the fall 1994 semester. One additional recipient will be named each fall, with a total of $20,000 in Fletcher scholarships to be awarded in the fall of 1997. "The intent is to provide the full cost of education for these outstanding music students," said Robert commemorates Adcock Two music professional fraternities at WesternCarolina University have established a scholarship in memory of beloved music professor Eva J. Adcock, who died last year. Members of the Tau Beta Sigma and Sigma Alpha Iota organizations raised funds through several projects to set up the Eva Adcock Music Education Scholarship. The scholarship, which provides $300 per academic year to the recipient, will be awarded to music education majors. Recipients are selected by the scholarship committee of WCU's music department on the basis of individual commitment to music education, academic standing and musical talent. Eva J. "Dr. Adcock believed strongly in the practical application of research, and the fruits of her considerable scholarship may be seen most vividly in the lives of her students."
