According to CHINA DAILY, NBC, one of the three major US television networks, will broadcast celebration activities of the 38th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China live from Beijing and Shanghai this fall. MBC news will air a week-long series "Changing China" live from the country. From September 25 through October 2, NBC news will air a total of 16.5 broadcasting hours from China. During the week, Tom Brokaw of NBC Nightly News and Bryant Gumbel and Jane Pauley of the "Today" show will anchor their programs from Beijing and Shanghai. Other news programs such as Sunday Today, Meet the Press, NBC News at Sunrise and the weekend editions of NBC Nightly News will also broadcast segments from China. It is reported that NBC's endeavor will cover political, economic, cultural, scientific, and social subjects; and Tom Brokaw is going to interview a number of the top Chinese leaders. Yang, Ding'an An October 1 deadline for filing applications for the student Fulbright Program at Western Carolina University has been announced by Dr. Anthony Andrew Hickey, WCU dean of research and graduate studies and Fulbright Program advisor. The Fulbright awards are made to students who have an interest in overseas study, scholarly project, language skills as needed in the country where they propose to study and the support the faculty of the department in j which they are enrolled.
