cont. from page 9 cheerleader camp. Their day started at 7:30 am and didn't end until 10:00 pm. There were over twelve hundred cheerleaders in attendance from such major universities as Ohio State, the University of Kentucky, North Carolina State, and from smaller, more local schools like Gardne r-Webb, Winthrop, and Appalachian State, just to name a few. The week was filled with practicing cheers, working on routines, and developing spiritual motivation. Back on campus, the Catamount cheerleaders practice on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 4:00 in the afternoon to 5:30, and Sunday nights 7:00 to 9:00. On Tuesdays the girls practice their routines. The present squad is just for the football team right now, but will go on to cheer for the basketball team, too. H owever, a few of the girls will not be able to continue cheering, so try- outs for the basketball season will be held sometime in October. Wooten emphasized that cheering is extremely time-consuming and full of hard work, but it can be a very enjoyable, learning experience.
