A review course to help students prepare lor the mathematics portion of the Graduate Record Examination will be offered beginning Tuesday, March 23. through WCL "s division of continuing education. The course, which will meet March 23, 25, 30 and April 1 from 7 until 9 p.m., is designed for the student who needs a refresher course in mathematics and is interested in establishing a starting point in preparation for the GRE. One of four main topics will be covered in each >ession—arithmetic, algebra, data interpretation and geometry. Students will be given sample tests to determine their own skill level and will be offered individual suggestions on wavs to further prepare for the GRI There are no required texts for the course, but GRE review texts are available in most bookstores. In the last meeting held bv the Students Against Nuclear Energv (S.A.N.E.) it was voted to join the Natural Guard. This decision was made in an attempt to link up the anti-nuclear activities of this area with those already established in the southeast. Ihe Natural Guard has units in South Carolina, (ieorgia. North Carolina. Virginia. West Virginia. Honda, and as far north as Washington. D.C. and New Jersey. The southeastern Regional Office is based out of the G.R.O.W. (ale of Columbia. There is no charge for admission. • •••• Ihe School of Education and Psychology will hold a meeting for undeclared majors who may be interested in degree programs in education, health, recreation, sports management, and psychology. The meeting will be March I I at 4 p.m. in 104 Killian. Faculty advisors will be available to answer questions about job opportunities and explain programs. Wednesday, March 3, the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity set out on a clean-up mission that began at the intersection ol Speedwell Road and Highway 107. a crew consisting of brothers and Picketts moved down 107 to the road behind Whitmire Stadium and then worked their way back along Speedwell Road to the Pika House. This was done in an effort to improve the surrounding community. In the future, cleaning efforts will move farther into campus until a cleaner environment is achieved. Yearbook class portraits will be taken March 22-25 in the second floor of the University Center. On Monday, March 22, pictures will be taken in the Dogwood Room and Tuesday through Thursday pictures will be taken in the Cardinal Room. The Western Carolinian is Western Carolina University's student-run newspaper. The paper was published as the Cullowhee Yodel from 1924 to 1931 before changing its name to The Western Carolinian in 1933.
