President Anwar Sadat of Egypt and Israeli Prime Minister Menachim Begin according to Press Secretary Jody Powell. The trip was planned by Carter to help Democratic candidates Lamar Gudger. who is running for re-election in the 11th district against Republican Curtis Radcliffe and Democratic senate hopeful John Ingram who is going against incumbent Jesse Helms. The Western Carolinian is Western Carolina University’s student-run newspaper. The paper was published as the Cullowhee Yodel from 1924 to 1931 before changing its name to The Western Carolinian in 1933.
