The University Media Center started out in Killian building about five years ago under the name Instructional Media Services and served on the School of Education and Psychology for three of those years. However, the services that IMS rendered became so popular that the administration took over the funding of it through Academic Affairs and IMS became UMC. The media center moved to Stillwell building at the beginning of fall semester and occupies almost an entire hall in ground floor Stillwell. Those who've never been down to the media center are urged to go see how UMC can help them in their classroom. According to Martin, the Media center likes lo "consider oursehes as an extension of the classroom experience for both instructor and student." Tom I ra/ier, senior in education media and afternoon production coordinator, "builds" a sound track for a slide/tape show in the media center's audio production room.
