Jacobs in series The Contemporary Arts Series, with guest speaker Joe Jacobs, has been rescheduled from January 17 to January 31. Mr. Jacobs will be speaking and presenting a slide presentation on Picasso's Blue Period. This presentation will be held in the Cherokee Room of the UC at 8 p.m. Yoga begins Feb. 1 An eight-week class in yoga will begin February 1 and will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. each Wednesday through March 22, in Killian 117. Instructor for the class is Ruthe Schwarz of Highlands, a student and teacher of Desikachar Yoga, which aims at exercising the entire body in a calm and effortless manner. She has studied yoga for seven years and has taught both beginning and intermediate classes in the Highlands-Cashiers area. Seven Devils—Fair conditions. Base 24-36 inches, wet surface. Open one chairlift and three tows. Open one beginner, one intermediate, one advanced slopes. Sky Valley (Georgia)—Fair conditions. Base 24-60 inches, wet surface. Open one lift and one tow. Open one beginner, one novice, one intermediate slopes. Tuition for this non-credit class is $40. The class will be limited to 15 persons of all ages and levels of experience in yoga. Registration will be held the first night of class, but preregistration is encouraged due to the class limit, interested persons should call the WCU Division of Continuing Education at 293-7397. Participants are requested to bring a small rug or a blanket to class and to wear comfortable clothing. , Financial Aid Students seeking financial assistance for the 1978-79 academic year are urged to attend a meeting in the UC Grandroom at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Summer school information will be given and announcements will be made regarding changes in the manner of applying for federal assistance. Applications will be available for summer jobs through PACE (Plan Assuring College Education) program and for students interested in applying for the North Carolina Prospective Teachers' Scholarship Loan. With many families experiencing greater need for help with college expenses, students are urged to attend this meeting and to apply early. NCSL meets Western's delegation to the North Carolina Student Legislature met the democratic candidates for the U.S. Senate when thev attended the January interim council at UNC-Charlotte. Lawrence Davis, Joe Felmet, John Ingram, McNeil Smith, David McKnight, and a representative for Luther Hodges attended the meeting and held a candidates' forum for the student delegates. Plans were made for the annual session to be held in Raleigh later in the semester. Anyone interested in NCSL should contact Carrol Aeuff at 738.
