"held trom November 8 to the 10th, produced some tremendous individual and team performances Manv old records were broken as the competition, for both men and women, proved to be some of the best ever in the program. I he .Mens American League was dominated by 6-7th Boot of Harrill. I hey won live of eight events and broke four existing records. Kerr Palmer copped two records with a 28.1 time in the 50-yard backstroke, and a 1:02.7 time in the 100-yard individual medley. Harrill b-7th won the 100-yard medley relav with a 59.1, also good for a new record and capped their unbelieveable night with a record 1:54.9 time in the 200-yard freestyle event. In addition, they won lhe 50-yard inner tube race, missing the record for that event bv only nine-tenths of a second. In the other Al. events. Don Newland of 2-3rd Albright won the 25-yard butterfly event. Steve Winter! look the 50-yard freestyle for 4-5th Harrill. and Robin Smith of 2-3rd Albright won the 50 yard breastroke. The National League meets saw three records fall as 3rd floor Reynolds won the overall team Competition. I he Uev nolds team won an amazing six of eight events. Their 100-yard medley relay team set a new mark of 55.4 in capturing that event. I hev picked up another win and a record with a 39.8 showing in the inner tube relav. Third Reynolds also won the 200-yard freestyle and in individual events,_ Kim I roller won the 100-yard individual medley. Tim ()'( onnell won both the 50-yard freestyle and the 25-yard butterfly events. lhe other two NI. victories were bv Charlie Whitley of .'nil I eatherwood with a new record 30.8 time in the 50-yard backstroke, and a 32.9 time in the 50 yard brcaststroke. In the Internationa] League meets, the Little Rascals look four of eight events for first place in the overall standings. Six new records were set by the II in the 7n events, lhe Rascals won victories with record setting performances in the 100-yard relay (58.3) and the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:47.7). Larry Shields set a new mark with a 29.5 in the 50-yard brcaststroke and Donnie Morrow won the 25-yard butterfly to close out the Rascals totals. James Stratum of the Muiichkins won the 50-yard freestyle with a 25:7 record time. He also won the 100-vard individual madlev. Larry Ward and Phil Nelson of the POWS won the 50-yard inner tube with a 42.0 record mark and Steve Jackson of the Hard Hats set a record in the 50-yard brcaststroke with a 30.9 In Fraternity action. Lambda Chi Alpha won five of eight events to take the overall winner's spot. Lambda Chi's great night was highlighted bv records set in the 200-vard freestyle relay (1:47.0). Four old records were broken in the two leagues combined. In the Independent league, the Ivvips won overall with three lust places in eight events. Robin Kirkpatrick led the Iwips with a victory m the 50-vard freestyle and 25 vard butterfly, lhe team tinik the 100-yard medley tor their victorv. I he Had News Hears, with two first places, were led by lllen Walsh's 25-yard backstroke win and their team win in the 50-vard inner tube relay. , Reenie Wlutlev of the leftovers won the 100-yard freestyle and Patty Wilson (Odds and l-nds) won the 25-yard freestyle. Maria Marshall set a new record with her I?." time in her win in the 25-yard brcaststroke I he Sorority competition ended with Sigma Kappa at the top. Sail) Poole set a new mark in the 50-vard freestyle with a 28.2 time. She also won th, butterfly with a record 14.3 time. She ended her fantastic night with a victory in the 25-yard freestyle. Donna Dicker! of Alpha Xi Delta won the backstroke with a 15.1 time and also finsihed second in three other events. Sally McCaiilcv of Phi Mil won the 3^ vard breaslslroke and teamed with Miriam Benson to win lhe 50-yard inner tube relay.
