  • Page 8 THE WESTERN CAROLINIAN THURSDAY APRIL 10, 1975 Newspaper election filing deadline, requirements listed The two elective offices of The Western Carolinian, editor and business manager, will be filled again this month in the second series of the spring elections on April 29. Deadline for filing for both offices is April 15-22. Both positions have financial benefits. The editor receives $300 per quarter, and the business manager gets a 25 per cent commission on all advertising receipts. An average 8-page paper contains about $140 of advertising. To meet the requirements for being on the official ballot for editor, a student: 1.) Must be an enrolled full-time student with a minimum QPR of 2.00. 2.) Show satisfactory evidence to the newspaper's executive committee that the candidate has had at least six months' experience with it, or equivalent experience withano- ther newspaper. Sufficient knowledge of journalistic policies and practices as well as with off-set printing are included in the experience requirements. To qualify as a candidate for business manager of The Western Carolinian, a student must: 1.) Be an enrolled full-time student and have a minimum QPR of 2.00. 2.) Show satisfactory evidence to the newspaper's executive committee that the candidate has had at least three months' experience with the newspaper or similar experience. Candidates for both offices must file for election in the vice president's office of the Student Government Association in order to get on the ballot.
