Page 8 Library Displays Portraiture Hunter Library at Western Carolina University is currently displaying a two man show of informal portraiture, illustration, advertising and creative photography by Asheville photographers Paul and Mary Jo Brezny. The exhibition is circulated by the Asheville Art Museum and will continue through February in the library general reading room. Mr. and Mrs. Brezny are graduates of the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles with Bachelor of Professional Arts degrees in advertising photography. Mary Jo, the former Mary Jo Padgett of Asheville, had previously studied at Texas Woman's University where she received both the A.B. and B.S. degrees in Business. Paul, a native of Leechburg, Pa., previously attended photographic school in the army and served as V.I. P. and publicity photographer. While at Ft. Jay, he received the Army Commendation Medal for photographic work. Mr. Brezny has done photographic work for the Apollo and Gemini while with Northrop Ventura in California and has vast experience as an advertising photographer. His wife worked in advertising photography studios in Dallas, Los Angeles and Seattle. Her favorite areas of photography are creative work and shooting children informally. Answers to questions one and three parts of question two were percentage answers that had to be computed mathematically before they could be published. In answer to the question "What percentage of college students in the nation as a whole would you say take such drugs as marijuana, LSD, or pep pills?" answer the average 21.4%. Approximately 14 persons from Jackson and Swain counties attended. The president and secretary of the Smokey Mountain Flying Club in Franklin, presented a program on "How Flying Clubs Pay Off". A representative from the Tarmac Corparation gave a demonstration on the latest aviation ground school teaching aids and techniques. A second organizational meeting of the Club will be held on Monday, Feb. 19, at 7:30 P. M. at Southwestern Technical Institute on the Webster road in Sylva. The meeting has been designated "Buddy Night". Each person present at the first meeting was asked to bring with him a friend who in inter ested in flying. Any interested persons are cordially invited to attend the meeting. Recital Cancelled A student recital scheduled by the Western Carolina Music Department Thursday, Feb. 15, has been cancelled, it was announced Tuesday. The cancellation was necessary because of conflicting engagements, a department representative said. Phaedra Cancelled The play, Phaedra which was scheduled for March 27 under the sponsorship of the programs committee, has been cancelled because we do not have the facilities for staging it here at WCU according to T.L. The Western Carolinian is Western Carolina University’s student-run newspaper. The paper was published as the Cullowhee Yodel from 1924 to 1931 before changing its name to The Western Carolinian in 1933.
