  • The show begins with Amy sharing “We ARE Story,” giving an insight into why storytelling is so important. Her talk is accompanied by “O Perfect Love” by Jo Northup and Richard Birt. On Creative Corner, Doreyl's guest is Patti Best from Canton, an oil painter of mountain landscapes and rural scenes. They talk about Patti’s background in art and also discuss the work she has on display at the Oaks Gallery in Dillsboro, as well as her participation at ColorFest. “Golden Moments” by Clover follows the interview. Amy welcomes Mary Leopard Patterson to Stories of Mountain Folk. Mary grew up in Haywood County and now lives in the Wayehutta area of Jackson County. She talks about her family history and farm life in Haywood County. They also discuss a book she is working on which involves photographing a bridge project on the Tuckasegee River. “Sweet Little Miss Blue Eyes” by David Grisman follows the interview. On Black Roots of Appalachia, Victoria talks with Mary Sue Casey from Sylva, who talks about her life as a student and her experience as a teacher. The interview is followed by “School Days” by Cedarmont Kids. On Down Another Road, Judy talks with 85 year old Joseph Bly of Asheville, who talks about deciding to “live three lives”—he spent time in the Marine Corps, volunteered as an emcee for local music festivals, as well as being a philanthropist. The interview is followed by “Three Men on a Mountain” by Mountain Faith and “Don’t Be Ashamed of Your Age” by Red Foley concludes the show.
