  • The show begins with Amy’s story “Tuckasegee and Mr. Crawdad,” which is about her youth on Grassy Creek and watching crawdads in the water. The story is accompanied by “Appalachian Sunrise” by Randy Petersen. On Creative Corner, Amy takes Doreyl’s place and interviews Doreyl about her artistic background and education and some of her experiences as an artist. She also talks about a mural that she is creating for the town of Dillsboro. “When We’re Gone Long Gone” by the Compost Mountain Boys follows the interview. Amy’s guest on Stories of Mountain Folk is Frances Cargill of Franklin. She talks about the history of Nonah Weavers and the craft of weaving, and also talks about her life. The interview is followed by Ron Smith’s rendition of “The Entertainer.” Next, intern Sean Botzenhart interviews Luzell Wiggins Bennett, who grew up on the Qualla Boundary. She talks about her hobby of oil painting, and also discusses her love for the mountains and growing up in Jackson County. “Cherokee Morning Song” by Walela follows the interview. On Down Another Road, an interview with Martin Cook from April 14, 2012, is rebroadcast. “They’re Holding Up the Ladder” by the Inspirations follows the interview and the show ends with “Johnson’s Old Gray Mule” by the Yodeling Ramblers.
