  • These certificates of October 12, 1945 are the Separation Qualification Record and Honorable Discharge from the Army of the United States for Robert “Venoy” Reed. Reed entered the United States Army October, 1942 during World War II. He became a medic and landed in Normandy, France at the Omaha beachhead on June 16th, 1944 ten days after D-Day. Captured by German forces, Reed was a prisoner of war from January 19, 1945 to April 29, 1945. He returned to Jackson County, North Carolina and married Mary Elizabeth “Lizzie” Hope (1920-2016) June 2, 1946.
