This 4-page brochure, edited by Robert Sterling Yard, was issued in the fall of 1924 to members of the National Parks Association as a way to illustrate the progress and challenges facing the Appalachian National Park Committee. The committee, photographed on the front of the brochure, was tasked with advising Secretary of the Interior, Hubert Work on the best placement for a national park in the Southern Appalachian Mountains. From this brochure, one can see that other states were considered, including Georgia and South Carolina, and natural features, like Mount Mitchell and Linville Falls, as well. Ultimately, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park did not take in any of these places.
