  • THEATRE AND VILLAGE MANAGEMENT BARNEY RENTZ, Assistant General Manager A native of Hampton, South Carolina, Rentz joined the Cherokee Historical Association's administrative staff as assistant general manager in March, 1953. During the previous twelve years he was associated in an administrative capacity with two nationally-known concerns with offices in Western North Carolina. He is married to the former Miss Margaret Bird of Whittier, N. C, and the Rentzes now make their home in nearby Bryson City. They have one son. MACK BOWMAN, Theatre Manager A native North Carolinian, Bowman was reared in Hendersonville where he attended Blue Ridge School for Boys. In 1953 he graduated from Western Carolina College with a B.S. degree in Physical Education. A few months later he joined the faculty of Blue Ridge School for Boys where he taught one year before going into the army for 21 months. Bowman returned in March of 1955 to rejoin the school faculty as coach of football and basketball. He received his first theatre experience with Wilby-Kincey Theatre Corporation. This is his fourth year with the Unto These Hills production. WALTER JACKSON, Manager, Oconaluftee Village As manager of Oconaluftee Indian Village, Jackson supervises the Cherokee Historical Association's only all-Indian project whose personnel is composed completely of Cherokee. Jackson is 35 and was born and reared on the Qualla Reservation. He is a member of the governing body of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, having been elected to the tribal council in 1953. He is president of the Soco Community Club, a position he has held continuously for the past seven years. He has been vice-president of the Cherokee Athletic League since it was formed. Jackson became manager of Oconaluftee Village when it opened in August, 1952. A veteran of World War II, he served four years in the South Pacific. He is a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
