  • A special tuition charge of $100, additional to the total regular fees indicated above, will be made of those approved for Directed Observation and Supervised Teaching, Ed. 454ab, P, G, H, or S. II. Registration Transcripts of work previously done in other colleges or high schools, for new students, are required. One holding a teacher's certificate may, however, furnish name and serial number of the certificate instead of the transcript. III. Late Registration A student registering later than the time appointed for registration must pay an additional fee of $2 for the first day plus $1 for each additional day thereafter, the total, however, not to exceed $5. The Registrar holds the right to reduce the number of hours for which a late entrant may register. IV. Accommodations Four large dormitories for accommodating both women and men. All dormitories are well equipped, modern in every way, cool, comfortable. (For specific arrangements concerning room accommodations, see "Housing Procedure".) Modern infirmary, with the services of registered nurses and a part-time college physician, available to students and faculty. A science-classroom building, completed in 1952, designed in accordance with the most modern and best architectural knowledge. A library, joining the classroom building, unsurpassed in functional design. Other services of the College in keeping with the best. V. Housing Procedure Application for housing in one of the dormitories should be mailed to Housing Office, Western Carolina College, Cullowhee, North Carolina. Dormitory reservations should be made in advance, if possible, to insure accommodations. A $5 deposit is required for an advance reservation. For a private room a $10 deposit is required. Make checks payable to Western Carolina College. This fee will be credited to the student's expenses at registration. A request for a refund for cancellation must be made to the College at least one week before the date of registration. Specific room assignments will be mailed by May 3 to all students reserving rooms. The following information is to aid the student toward making arrangements for staying in one of the dormitories: 1. MOORE DORMITORY For undergraduate women, and women students registered for short courses. No single rooms will be available. Girls in the Youth Music Ciamp will be placed on third floor, north wing. The College Cafeteria is on first floor, north wing. 2. MADISON HALL For graduate women, and wheel-chair handicapped children. Single rooms will be available on second and third floors. First floor will be used as far as possible for those unable to climb stairs. Fourth floor will be reserved for conference groups if not needed for students. Terrace floor will be reserved for wheel-chair handicapped children. 9
