  • 3. A Service to Children and Youth While the majority of elementary and secondary school pupils come from Cullowhee and surrounding towns, enrollment is open to children of college students or to others. A limited number of high school students may be housed in the college dormitories. High school students may enroll in English I, III, IV, American History, World History, Biology, General Science, Algebra I, and Plane Geometry. Other classes in the fields of English, Mathematics, Science, And Social Studies will be organized if there is sufficient demand. High School students are admitted to credit courses only upon written recommendations from their high school principals. Short Courses, Conferences, and Clinics A number of short credit and non-credit courses, special conferences, and clinics will be conducted in each term of the Summer School. These will include several two-week courses carrying regular college credit as indicated in the course listings below. These courses are set up to provide opportunity for teachers to spend only from two to four weeks for study, if they so desire, rather than the usual minimum of six weeks. During the first term such courses are scheduled with the use of the campus Demonseration School in mind. Students will note that courses numbered in the 400's are open alike to graduates and advanced undergraduates; in the 500's to graduates only.
