Westfield, Ill October 29. 1888 Dear Horace, Your letter of 25th came to house today and found us all quite well, except your mother. She has been a little “under the weather” the last few days, but will soon be all right again. I have just received a card from our Mack informing us that he has sent us a book as per your request – one you sent to him. It has not arrived yet. The Abraham Goss of whom you [speak] was my mother’s father. In 1833 when he secured his pension he was 69 years old. That made him 14 years old in 1778, when he

In this letter of October 29, 1888, I. L. Kephart writes his son Horace Kephart continuing to pass along genealogy information. He tells him of the Goss family, ancestors on his mother's side, and that the living descendants mostly are in Oceola Mills, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania. Isaiah Kephart invites Horace to attend the Bigler camp-meeting in August to meet friends and see homes of his ancestors. He also tells Horace of his father's family, the Kepharts, including John Kephart who was murdered last May. Isaiah talks about Horace's sister Belle, how she is doing with school and her behavior.
