  • vided in the "Barn" for those who do not have tents. Details will be discussed at a meeting to be held approximately a week or ten days prior to opening of the camp. Notice of the time and place of this meeting will be mailed to members, and to others who may have previously requested it. Driving distance to the Barn and return is approximately 100 miles. The hiking distance is just what YOU want to make it. Leaders will be selected and announced later. They will assist in the selection of menus and equipment. MOUNTAIN NIGHT Night on a mountain is a privilege One remembers. A minute symphony Of chirping things; the vast celestial bridge i Of fire spanning a cobalt mystery... Somewhere within a canyon's mute ravine A leaping river like a hunted fawn Races the ivind; gigantic shadows lean Against horizons passing day has drawn. No longer of the earth, holding the sky Within your heart, while stars are close enough To touch; wrapped in mauve silences that lie Around, the shoulders of each aging bluff. There is a glory one cannot forget In nightfall—from a mountain's parapet! —Gene Boardman Hoover 37
