  • ■fS^fe-l * - MARSHALL WILtSON DECEMBER 3 ECHO POINT AND ALUM CAVE Almost everyone can remember how fascinating it was in childhood days to shout from some special spot and in a moment hear his words thrown back. Such a place is Echo Point. All the grown-up kids in the Club can have a big time here. Just before reaching Alum Cave Bluffs we find on our left the 'Duck Hawk Peaks', a sharp ridge on which the almost extinct Duck Hawk makes its nest. At the Bluffs lunch will be eaten and afterward there will be a brief discussion of the geology of the area. The discussion will be led by Dr. George M. Hall, Prof, of Geology, U. T. Then the steep climb to Echo Point will be made. From the Point excellent views may be had of Mt. LeConte, Mt. Kephart, Mt. Mingus, Huggins Hell, The Chimneys and the Sugar- land Mountains. Come along and be prepared to "holler". Leave Dixie System at 8:00 a. m., Drive to Grassy Patch on the Indian Gap Highway. Bring canteen and food for one meal. Hiking distance 4 miles round trip. The last part of the trail is fairly steep. Leaders: GEORGE M. HALL (2-4640) ELIZABETH HOUSTON (3-5027) 62
