Mr. Moody, of North Carolina, introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Agriculture and ordered to be printed. A BILL For the purchase of a national forest reserve in the southern Appalachian Mountains, to be known as the "McKinley Appalachian National Park and Forest Reserve." 1 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa* 2 lives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 3 That the Secretary of Agriculture is hereby empowered and 4 directed to purchase land suited to the purpose of a national 5 park and forest reserve in the Appalachian Mountains within 6 the States of Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, 7 Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee, in total extent not to exceed 8 two million acres, and to care for, protect, use, and make 9 accessible the said reserve or any part of it when so pur- 10 chased for a national forest reserve. 11 Sec. 2.
