  • ACCOMMODATIONS In or Near the Park Hotel, lodges, and camps now operating in the park area are under temporary permit. No franchises have yet been issued by the government. Excellent accommodations art available at Asheville, N. C, and Knoxville, Tenn., where there are many fine hotels. Practically all of the hotels and lodges listed herein are operated on the American plan. In the majority of cases, special rates by the week or month may be obtained. Some of the places are open all year; others for the tourist season only. In many communities near the park accommodations are also available in private homes. TENNESSEE Elkmont (In the Park) Appalachian Club: Private club; about 30 cottages. Opens June IS, closts about September 1. Swimming, fishing, hiking, dancing. IV Tavern: Open all year; 8 or 10 cottages; lunch room. Wonderland Park Hotel: 50-room club hotel; season June 1 to about October 10. Swimming, dancing, boating, tennis, fishing, guides, horses, gift shop. Cade's Covr (In the Park) Ekaneetlee Lodge: (Willie Myers). Open during tourist season fa spring, summer, fall. Saddle horses and guides. John Oliver's Lodge: Open all year. Good fishing. Guides and horsf s. Gatlinburg (Outside the Park; LeConte Lodge: On top of Mount LeConte. near Gatlinburg. Open all year.
