The general principle which is embodied in the Bergan you have already endorsed in "Woodcraft", and you will note that I have referred to this statement in my circular. You apparently are not familiar with the Bergan itself, and I am anxious that you should be. I am therefore going to take the further liberty of sending you herewith a Bergan "A III Extra", on approval. If you like it, it is yours for essentially what it costs me at the present rates of exchange, viz. $10.00. If you dont like the knapsack, send it back at my expense. But try it out as thoroughly as you wish before deciding, and then do not pay for it until and unless you are thoroughly convinced that it is the best thing of the sort you have ever used. This arrangement, please understand, places you under no obligation whatsoever to me. I am hoping, however, that, after you have given the Bergan a thorough try out and after you too have become a Bergan enthusiast, you will feel willing to write for me a brief note of endorsement, with permission to use the same in connection with circulars such as those enclosed. That such an opinion would be greatly appreciated, I need hardly say; but let me emphasize again that in accepting the above offer you are not to consider yourself under obligation to me in any respect whatever.
