Dear Sir: — your Committee soon after appointment wrote the letter herewith attached to twenty officers of Boards of Trade and Chambers of Commerce, intending to forward more should the said twenty meet with favorable results. Failing to hear from any of the letters it was decided that the expense would not 'warrant further effort. If the Association suggests that we continue this plan in spite of the unfavorable results so far obtained your Committee will be glad to write similar letters to other parties. The Membership Committee of the Appalachian National Park Association drafted a letter to various Boards of Trade to build membership in the association. Heading the committee was Claybrook James, general manager of the Asheville Hardware Company. Included in this correspondence is This a 2-page list of delegates represented by various Boards of Trade and Chambers of Commerce who will attend a convention held in October 1902, sponsored by the Appalachian National Park Association and the Asheville Board of Trade. The convention was successful with 1,500 people from various states attending.
