  • Sept /»5th, 1901. Prof, J. A, Holmes:- Chapel Hill, N, C, My dear Proffessor:- X have just received from the Sunt, of Bocuwents in WaSh- ington a copy of Calender Mo 2227, Report No. 2221 of the 56th Senate, relative to wrFhe Forest Reserve in the Southern Appalachian Mount a infills- gicn," The Supt. of b^cuments writes me that copies of this pamphlet can only be furnished at the uniform price of Sets. each. As usual 1 m still greatly in need of fwfta for the mailing and printing, etc., and for that reason, do not feel Justified in ordering a large number of these pamphlets. However, if 1 had fifty copies I ssj sure T could place , them over the country Where they would be in great part re-produced by the. news papers. Can you do anything for us along; this line? If the suggestion comes from prof, Pinchot, could we obtain a few copies at a less figure, ura are at this time sending out booklets, of which I have already send yon copies raid are also writing personal letters to the friends of representatives and Senators requesting them to write personal letters i to their senators and Representatives calling their attention to the movement and urging them to give the same their careful consideration and attention. Can you use any of the booklets and if so how many shall we send you, very truly yours,
