Dear Sir: Many thanks for the circulars enclosed in your letter of November 15th. I regret that I cannot give you detailed information about the area of standing timber in Western North Carolina. I send you, however, a Bulletin published by the North Carolina Geological Survey, which I hope may be of interest. I should advise you to correspond with Mr. W. W. Ashe, now a member of this Division, to whom I will submit your letter to-day. It is probable that you will hear from him direot.
