  • In this letter Needham acknowledges receiving Ramsey’s application for the position of park ranger and points out that presently the park service was not appointing any new rangers until more park land had been turned over to the Government. Needham ends by stating that he had filed Ramsey’s application for future reference.

Bear Mr* Hamsey: This will acknowledge receipt of your communication of the 16th instant, applying for an appointment as ranger in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. I regret to advise that the Park Service is not planning to appoint any.new rangers here at the present time and probably not until the major portion of the pari land has been turned over to the Government a year or more hence. Mr. Weaver has spoken to me favorably in your behalf and I have filed your application for future reference. Regretting my inability to be of service to you at this time, I am, Yours very truly, 'John T. Needham, Asst. Chief Hanger
