I have found it difficult to get some of the figures due to the fact that the records in all of the camps have not been kept in the same fashion. However where it has been possible the comparative values of the various ^teps in the work have been Copy riglited Material i nd ic & t e d • Western Carolina University Hunter Library Incidentally the North Carolina camps have not been as closely supervised by the Landscape men and the figures are showing a considerable drop in costs. It may be interesting to you for the purposes of comparison to know that under the P.W.A. three trails have been constructed as follows: Cades Cove 7«H miles at $665.60 per mile 20 Mile Branch 2.38 miles at I305.60 per mile Appalachian Trail I4..6 miles at $230.00 per mile , I trust that these figures may present the matter of trails more comprehensively to you.
