Canton Public Library dedication

Description

The new Canton library was made possible through the Champion Paper Foundation. Originally established in 1937, the library has grown to 7,500 titles. This photograph was taken during the June 21, 1954 dedication where many Champion officials were a central part of the day’s ceremonies. Standing on the library steps (L to R) are Brandon P. Hodges, Governor William B. Umstead, Dwight J. Thomson, Reuben B. Robertson, the Reverand Harold Groce, Reuben B. Robertson, Jr., H. A. Helder, and C. A. Stone.
