Reuben. B. Robertson is honored with Man of the South award for 1950

  • Reuben B. Robertson was named 1950’s “Man of the South” and was honored during a December 16th banquet. Many came forward to speak highly of Robertson, creating a retrospect of his life service. Free Enterprise and the Community – a Case History was the theme of the night. In this behind-the-scenes photograph, we see the photographer capturing a posed shot of Mr. Robertson being handed his award. The actual scene took place in front of 150 people during the banquet ceremony. Standing with him (left to right) are Senator Clyde Hoey, Dr. Frank Graham, and (far right) Colonel Hubert F. Lee. The award reads: Dixie Business Magazine Distinguished Service Award presented to Reuben B. Robertson who was chosen as The Man of the South for 1950 in a poll of editors, industrials, bankers, and other leaders of the south, conducted by Dixie Business –the voice of southern progress and signed by Hubert F.
