  • CAMPUS VIEWS Our Take Cartoon To: The Western Carolinian When I first developed interest in this publica- tion, I never knew that it would become such a huge part of my life. I wanted to be involved in some way, even if that was just as a writer of a few articles per issue. Instead, I was given an opportu- nity I would have never dreamt of. Being Editor-in-Chief the past two years has been incredible. We started with basically nothing and are getting more successful with each day that passes. I have worked with lovely people and am so proud of the passionate staff that will be head- ing this publication once I graduate in a few short weeks. The Western Carolinian is special. It has been a method of self-discovery for me, and for that I will always be grateful. But, I appreciate other factors, as well. The friendships I have made, the people I have helped, the stories I have shared with our community and the list continues. Regardless of any hiatus we may have encountered, this pub- lication takes pride in its community and we are slowly gaining that pride in return. Leaving this position will be on top of the list of the hardest things I have ever done. I have learned so much about myself and about who I want to be. I have been challenged in numerous ways while also having the opportunity to facilitate growth in others. This job constantly throws the unexpected at you, and I love that I was able to be a part of * each occurrence. As Iam currently undergoing the transition away from this position, I simply hope that the pride remains strong. I know those taking my. place will be successful and I cannot wait to advise this publication until the next few editors come along. All in all, I just want to thank everyone for giv- ing me this opportunity. Thank you to the staff members who have put up with me for the past few years and the faculty who have helped me as best as they could. I have had the best experiences in this position and will forever cherish what it has taught me. Good luck to all the staff moving forward. I will . miss working alongside you but know that you will continue to do great things.
