Base Camps climbing spire offers a chance to participate in indoor climbing. The spire is free to WCU students, faculty and staff with a valid CatCard. The spire has challenging routes for both beginners and advanced persons. Held Jan. 18, 25 and Feb. 1,8,15,22 in Reid Gym from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Base Camp says there is no experience necessary. Students can participate in one of Western North Carolinas most popular sports by attending Base Camps kayak roll clinics held in Jan. and Feb. from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Breese Gym. Interested persons should contact Base Camp for scheduled dates. If you are interested in exploring the mountains by foot, Base Camp is offering a backpacking trip the weekend of Feb. 19 through the 20. This is an overnight trip that will give participants a chance to hike trails and explore the wilderness. Price includes transportation, instruction and meals while on the trail. If you're looking for fun and entertainment this semester, Last Minute Productions (LMP) has many events to satisfy your urge for a good time. Students can start their semester off with a movie from LMP. All movies are shown in the University Center Theatre and cost $2 for WCU students and $4 for non-students. LMP showcases the movie Shall We Dance Jan. 20th through 22, Mr. 3000 Jan. 27 through 29, Ray Feb. 3 through 5, Sponge Bob Feb. 10 through 12 and the movie Ladder 49 Feb. 17 $2 for students and $4 through 19.
