  • Dear Readers, My name is Jessica Jarrard and | am the newest editor of the Western Carolinian Newsmagazine. After working on the Western Carolinian since my arrival at WCU as a freshman, | look forward to working as editor, and getting as many students involved as possible in the paper. This first issue focuses on a new Cullowhee. As many of you know a lot has changed around here in the last year. Those coming to Cullowhee for the first time are faced with the challenge of finding their way around a new place. Even those who have been students here and are just home for summer return to a much different campus than the one they left in May. Let us know how you like the new Cullowhee, and if there are any questions you want answered. Summer is my favorite time of year in Cullowhee. Everyone just seems a little more relaxed. The weather is usually nice (except for those evening showers) and there is plenty of time for fun outdoor activities. This issue is also geared toward letting our readers know exactly what is going on in Cullowhee during the summer months. Also for those who wish to find outdoor activities, but may not have any idea where to begin, there is a section on fun things to do in Western North Carolina. The Western Carolinian prides itself on being BY STUDENTS, FOR STUDENTS. In order to accomplish that goal, | need as much help as possible from you the reader. Your letters and e-mails are of utmost importance here at the WC as we are all interested in what you want to read about. Let us know what types of activities youre involved in and how we can become involved as well. Always feel free to contact us via e-mail at wc@wcu.edu. | look forward to an exciting year as your editor. Sincerely, Jessica Jarrard Editor-in Chief INFO: WC@WCU.EDU
