M., Officers responded to an argument between students in the parking lot between Helder and : Dodson..An. officer mediated the dispute over a parking. space, and everyone calmed down and apologized. ; : Officers continue investigating a report of indecent exposure. Sylva Police report similar incidents in: town. Officers are looking into the possibility that it may be the same man. 7 INSGNALS October.20, 2003: . 3:00 P. M., Two students reported an act of indecent exposure near the Ramsey Center. The suspect isa white male, ~ _late 30s to early 408, driving a small tan vehicle. He had curly grayish brown hair and was overweight. This dscription matches the one given in a similar incident that occurred approximately two weeks.ago on Forest Hills Road near... Dodson.Cafeteria. esa i he : Rianne tate eet Nis 9:40 P_M., Officers cited a male student for speeding 50 mph ina 20 mph zone and no operators license. 11:15 P. M., Officers: found an intoxicated student in front of Scott and assisted him in getting back to his room.in.. Walker. The student was referred to Judicial Affairs for underage drinking. : Eee _ 10:40 P. M., Officers responded to a report of underage drinking on the 3rd floor of Harrill Hall. Officers referred six ~ students to, Judicial Affairs for underage drinking. M., Officers conducted a license checkpoint on Central Drive. Citations were issued for driving without an perators license, underage. possession of alcohol and driving while impaired. - October 18; 2003: a : : 1:08 A. M., Officers assisted students in keeping an intoxicated student from driving. The student was disruptive but did calm down. The student agreed to talk to a counselor. j : -1:52.A..M., Officers responded to an intoxicated person sleeping on the second floor of the: University Center. Officers were able to awaken the person, and he was transported back to his residence off campusonce officers were able to _ascertain his name. The person was too intoxicated to remember his social security number or birthday. 3:54 A. M., Officers responded to a report of burning banners. on the walking bridge. One of the burning banners was _ put out before officers arrived, but officers did put out one fire upon their arrival. Officers. were unable to locate anyone ~ connected with the burning banners. _ 019 P. M., WCU officers were asked to assist with a disturbance in Sylva, which they resolved. During this time, All . Sylva and Jackson County. Sheriff's officers were involved with a shooting incident in which.a Sylva Police Officer was _shot. The suspect barricaded.in a residence. The Sylva Police Officer was treated and released at the hospital.. He was wearing his bulletproof vest: The suspect was shot and is now incritical condition in an Asheville Hospital; according to | N@ws sources. Sees - 10:30 P.M., Officers were dispatched to a disturbance at Leatherwood. The person causing the disturbance had been banned from.all residence halls..The person. became combative and verbally abused officers. The person:was charged with second degree trespassing, as well as drunk and disruptive behavior. He has again been banned from all _ residence halls on campus. Threatening someone with a knife and BB gun. Yeah like thats not illegal on campus. Causing a disturbance at one of the many residence halls youve been kicked out of and yelling at the cops when they kick you out and ban you again. Throwing underage drinking parties in your dorm room. Getting drunk and passing out on the second floor of the UC. Then forget- ting your name when the officers ask for it. - October.17, 2003: 3:05 A. M., Officers arrested five students on various misdemeanor charges of simple possession of marijuana, _ underage possession of alcohol, possession of paraphernalia and open containers in a vehicle. The students were _ Stopped in the Leatherwood South Parking Lot. -11:15.A.-M., Officers assisted a probation/parole officer.in.the search of half of.a.room belonging to a. student-who.is.on probation. M., A follow-up-investigation of harassing e-mails and-name calling to a WCU. student was resolved when.-the suspect was identified as a high school student from Franklin: - Driving under age with Mary Jane, "October 18, 2003: open beers and drug paraphernalia. 7:26 P. M., Two students reported. that they were intimidated and threatened .by.a male student who yelled at-them and _ threatened them ina dispute over a parking space: The incident was referred to Judicial Affairs: Driving drunk, under age, without a ee. license and with alcohol in your car. October 14, 2003: -10:00-P..M., A student.on the 3rd floor of Harrill reported that.a male student had threatened him.with a knife and. a BB pistol. Officers arrested the suspect on charges of assault with a deadly weapon; assault by pointing a gun, and | possession Of weapons on school property. In addition, officers referred a drug paraphernalia violation to Judicial Speeding 30 miles over the speed limit _ Affairs. without a license. - October 13; 2003: / 10:25 P. M., Officers conducted an Operation ID program in Scott/Walker. Thirty-three items were engraved for _ identification purposes and placed on file in the police department. If these items were to be stolen and recovered, the _ police department would be able to return them.to the owners. Picking a fight with someone over a parking space until an officer comes alm you down. - October 12, 2003: lie seat ts 2:00 P. M., Officers asked three male juveniles not to ride their bicycles in the Greek Village construction site. The three _ youngsters were in the mud filled pond..They were cooperative and left. : . i 3:24 P. M., Officers saw three males jumping their skateboards at the entrance to the grounds shop; above the steam plant. Officers counseled them regarding the campus skateboard policy. Leaving your drug pipes, bowls and a newly stolen road sign out on display during room safety inspection. _ October 10, 2003: -7:30A. M., A box van rolled forward while backing into the loading dock at Brown Cafeteria: The van jumped:acurb, _ pulled down power lines and damaged shrubbery. The incident resulted in a power outage. There were no injuries. 5:00.P..M., An Officer reported the wooden Hoey sign as missing. / October 9, 2003: 10:30 P. M., A complaint was filed by an RD in Albright/Benton Dorm of drug paraphernalia being found during room | safety inspection check.
