THE BOTTOM LINE By,' Lee Schwarz I WCnewsmagazine Keep your cellular telephone bills down Are you plagued by high cell phone bills? Do you want to change that? Here are some ideas. Be disciplined and limit your calls during peak times. Most cell phone companies limit the number of minutes you can use during the middle of the day. If you use more than your allotted minutes in a billing period, you are charged by the minute for every minute you use in excess. Cell phone companies love it when you do that. Do not use your phone in the middle of the day to call someone five minutes away. Use a local phone that way you don't use up your minutes unnecessarily. You should know that cell phone companies have their own system for counting the minutes you use. For instance, 1:01 (one minute and one second) counts as 2:00 to them. Every second you use on a new minute is counted as an additional minute. So try to end your calls at 3:58 or 1:59 so that you can get the most amount of talking for your money. Also, try to monitor your minutes used. Usually there is a toll-free number you can call where they will tell you how many minutes you have used up to that point in time. Be careful though. Sometimes they don't have the total number of minutes you've used available to tell you yet. The Schwarz Factor Quit your Yapping!
